This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.
Make a difference
As a Project Coordinator within the Buildings and Energy Systems department, you will be responsible for monitoring remote BAS (Building Automation Systems) operations of HVAC equipment throughout TCHC portfolio and advise or engage TCHC in-house or external vendor to rectify issues in a manner that supports Toronto Community Housing’s tenant focused culture.
You will also manage and coordinate daily activities, and other activity related to project coordination, of energy management projects or programs being undertaken by the Smart Buildings and Energy Management (SBEM) unit.
You will monitor and analyze daily energy data consumption of real time electricity, water and gas throughout TCHC portfolio, perform verification of real-time site energy and water meters, track and consolidate all available TCHC real-time energy data for Measurement & Verification (M&V) purposes.
Project Coordination
• Manage overall project execution and operations including scoping, scheduling, budget, and administration of BAS projects
• Organize and lead project meetings to review progress, identify project risks, and coordinate action on outstanding project issues
• Coordinate with various departments within TCHC to achieve assignment success
• Oversee and coordinate the activities of construction teams including communicating with buildings’ staff and Superintendents
• Perform project planning, administration including procurement, and invoicing
• Assist with project initiation activates (RFP, tendering, bid evaluation, contract negotiation, contract award)
• Resolve stakeholder and project conflicts through negotiation or, if necessary, escalation to ensure projects remain on target
• Provide input to Energy Management staff to plan/design future projects, and to assist in the compilation and update of the organization energy management plan
• Work and coordinate with utility companies such as Enbridge, Toronto Hydro and Toronto Water to manage several activities throughout TCHC’s portfolio
• Perform project/budget control, tracking and reporting to deliver project on time and budget
BAS Monitoring and Energy Analysis
• Monitor HVAC system performance of 40+ TCHC BAS sites by recording system and network faults, ensuring all controls are in Auto mode, and coordinating with
BAS technicians and site staff to rectify issues
• Collaborate with other TCHC units related to the Building Performance Program by providing on-site BAS training to building operators and superintendents
• Collaborate with other TCHC units to optimize building performance and energy conservation through re-commissioning activities
• Perform daily monitoring & targeting of real-time electricity, and water metering data from multiple monitoring systems and energy analytics software platforms
• Track and consolidate real time energy data for internal measurement and verification (M&V) purpose – assist in providing real-time energy data
• Perform analysis of real-time site energy and water meters. Aggregate data into useful information (daily, monthly, consumption usage profiles, baseline data,
benchmark data)
• Work with Information Technology Services (ITS) to resolve BAS remote network connectivity issues
• Perform site visits to troubleshoot BAS issues and review building operations with building operators and site superintendents
Requirements
What you’ll need
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Building Systems Engineering Technician, or equivalent
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience
• Building Automation Systems experience, experience with DDC control system & knowledge of BAS networking, Mechanical Engineering, project coordination,
energy analysis, and Measurement and Verification (M&V) skills
• Knowledge of project management principles
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills communication along with effective communication skills
• Knowledge of LEED and green building/smart building systems is an asset
• Good knowledge of energy management and controls strategies
