Position Title: Jr. Mechanical Designer
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, architectural drawings, schedules, and hand sketches/drawings to understand design intent.
Read and understand equipment manufacturer’s literature.
Develop AutoCAD drawings based on sketches and diagrams.
Perform HVAC systems load calculations for residential and commercial projects.
Travel to project sites to sketch and measure existing setups in order to create as-built drawings.
Engage in facilities condition assessment tasks as directed.
Prepare site visit reports.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must have education in Building Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Minimum 2 years of experience working with AutoCAD (training certificate will be considered an asset).
Drafting experience in commercial and/or multi-story residential projects will be considered an asset.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
High attention to detail.
Good time management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills for working within a team and taking direction from the project lead.
Knowledge of local HVAC codes and plumbing is an asset.
Proficiency in Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) is an asset.
Must have own vehicle and a clean driving record.
